Ammeraal Beltech makes durable and highly precise solutions that power businesses

Ammeraal Beltech, a leading global provider of conveyor belting solutions and a brand of AMMEGA Group, will showcase efficient, safe and customizable belting solutions at PACK EXPO International 2024 (November 3-6) booth # S-3076. Ammeraal Beltech is designing belts to meet the demands of smarter, faster, and highly precise operations. With an established reputation for developing innovative and customizable solutions for various applications, Ammeraal Beltech is the leading manufacturer of process and conveyor belting.

“As manufacturers look to improve efficiency, lower costs, and reduce the physical demands on warehouse employees, these needs also translate to conveying equipment. Our goal is to continually support manufacturers, including startups and smaller emerging brands, with solutions to advance their business,’’ said Niels van den Boogert, Vice President/General Manager, Conveying Solutions, at AMMEGA.

In the high-speed, high-precision, and often harsh environments of today’s increasingly sophisticated warehouses, any equipment failure doesn’t just result in unexpected maintenance downtime but potential danger to the facility and operators. These operations demand belt attributes like superior material strength, friction resistance, and impact resistance. Manufacturers need to ensure worker convenience and implement solutions tailored to reduce physical strain associated with workplace injuries and lost time. This also includes low-noise solutions which can help to minimize noise pollution and the need for uncomfortable hearing protection. The Ammeraal Beltech team will be showcasing a variety of solutions at this year’s PACK EXPO International designed to address these concerns, such as:

  • uni Direct Drive Spiral System™ – The patented design of the uni Direct Drive System delivers the smoothest unforced engagement in the market. It ensures consistent operation, even in the most challenging environments. As the uni Direct Drive System is positive driven, it operates with greatly reduced belt tension. This increases belt life and reduces sensitivity to environmental factors such as ice buildup, grease and contamination. It reduces maintenance, cleaning associated with friction issues, and technical adjustments. Partners benefit from the extensive knowledge of our US and Global Spiral Belt Support Team, who are on hand to assist with the design of your Direct Drive System Spiral.
  • uni 253 and 255 – the new side-flexing conveyor chain – is important news for the bakery, beverage, and glass containermanufacturing industries. This chain belt was recently released to expand the uni modular chain product line to address multiple industry needs. In bottling, where higher speeds mean faster wear, the thicker top plate will outlast traditional slat top chain, while also providing a smoother surface to minimize product loss during production. In bakery, the thicker top plate provides a longer lifetime of the chain belt when contacting heavy metal pans. The plastic or nylon belt chain will also provide less wear on the pans mitigating pan replacement costs compared to stainless steel chain.
  • Uni ITB (Industrial Thick Belt) – AMMEGA will showcase the latest addition to its modular belting lineup. This belt can withstand abrasive environments where wear and impact resistance are crucial for productivity and streamlined operations.
  • Green Belting – Quality tapes, fabrics and belts, dedicated to meeting the ever-changing demands of the industry. The solution-driven products are designed to improve processes, reduce costs, and improve bottom line.
  • ZipLink® – Belts with easy to install features, eliminate the need for specialized labor and support, resulting in better efficiency. ZipLink is an ultimate solution for costly machine downtime across a variety of industries, including food and beverage. Ziplink belts provide customers with easy to install features that eliminate the need for specialized labor and external support, resulting in better efficiency. The belt no splice area provides a more ideal environment for production speed increase. Additional benefits include no extra thickness spots or metal parts that have the potential to damage machinery and products. Additionally, it can be customized with a variety of top-cover materials to best suit manufacturers’ needs.
  • RAPPLON®brand of High-Performance Flat Belts – A proven solution since 1957, these belts are known for their quality and precision.
  • Ammeral Beltech’s coating solutions can be made of various materials that influence the suitability of belts across different applications.

Ammeraal Beltech, a global leader in conveyor belt solutions, is excited to announce the launch of Duratemp, a new synthetic belt that offers unparalleled heat resistance, now available in the United States. Designed to meet the demanding requirements of the bakery and food industry, Duratemp sets a new standard for performance, safety, and reliability.

Jeff Cabalquinto, Product Manager at Ammeraal Beltech, expressed his enthusiasm for the product’s US debut. “Bringing Duratemp to the US market marks a significant milestone for us. This product embodies our commitment to innovation and our dedication to solving the critical challenges faced by the bakery industry. Heat resistance is a major concern for our clients, and Duratemp is our answer to this challenge,” said Cabalquinto.

Duratemp has been engineered to operate flawlessly at constant temperatures of 239°F, with the ability to withstand heat spikes up to 266°F. Its advanced heat-resistant compound surpasses other thermoplastic belts in the market by resisting the browning effect, ensuring durability and consistent performance.

“Duratemp is not just about withstanding high temperatures; it’s also about ensuring food safety. It meets the standards for EC 1935/2004, EU 10/2011, and FDA requirements. Its non-stick surface significantly reduces the risk of contamination, making it a safer choice for food processing environments,” Cabalquinto added.

In the world of conveyor systems, efficiency is vital. Every minute of downtime can translate into significant losses for businesses relying on smooth operation. Introducing ZipLock®, the latest innovation from leading conveyor belting manufacturer Ammeraal Beltech. Now available in the US, ZipLock® revolutionizes the way belts are swapped, slashing maintenance costs and downtime while ensuring smooth, silent operation.

“ZipLock® is the answer to the industry’s pressing need for swift and hassle-free belt replacements,” says Jeff Cabalquinto. “With the ZipLock® method, belt swapping is no longer a laborious task but a quick, do-it-yourself splice that takes just minutes to complete.”

Key to ZipLock’s® effectiveness is its unique design, which facilitates easy and fast belt exchange without compromising performance. Unlike conventional methods that rely on metal or plastic mechanical belt fasteners, ZipLock® boasts a nearly invisible connection that guarantees a smooth and quiet belt run. This feature makes it particularly well-suited for applications in environments where minimizing the time required to replace belts is crucial – such as airports and distribution centers – or where belt location is inaccessible for maintenance.

Jeff adds, “The ZipLock® method involves the use of special belt inserts that are spliced together with a strong finger splice. At the site, the ZipLock® ends are seamlessly connected by inserting a plastic pin, resulting in a continuous belt cover over the splice area. Not only does this ensure operational safety and reliability, but it also eliminates the need for heavy equipment, making on-site installation a breeze.”

One of the most compelling advantages of ZipLock® is its cost-effectiveness. By significantly reducing maintenance time and costs associated with downtime, ZipLock® offers businesses substantial savings compared to traditional splicing methods. According to Ammeraal Beltech’s calculations, ZipLock ®results in an average cost savings of 30% when compared to traditional splicing, not including additional savings from shorter downtimes.

“With ZipLock®, we’re empowering businesses to optimize their conveyor systems like never before,” says Jeff. “By streamlining the belt replacement process and minimizing downtime, ZipLock® enables our customers to maximize productivity and profitability.”

For Ammeraal Beltech, sustainability is a priority. With every innovation and new solution we come up with, we always think of ways to impact the world around us positively. Our newest concept – Circle Links is the future of sustainable modular belting solutions.

The future of the industry

Sustainable thinking is the foundation of our brand, and we always consider it. The newest concept we are happy to introduce is the key to revolutionising the world of belting as we know it. During their intense life cycle, belts can be damaged or worn down by hard usage, and, after some time, rendered useless. At the end of this cycle, belts are thrown away as they have no further application. But what if that was not the end of their journey?

The concept of recycling is no longer a novelty, but the idea of recycling conveyor belts and reusing the polymers as products in corrugated applications – is something a little different.

How does it work?

The concept of Circle Links is split into three steps. First, we collect the damaged and worn-down belts instead of disposing them. This part of the process assumes that the old belts do not contribute to the waste littering our planet, but instead, they are given a second life. Next, we use the patented technology for plastic resin sorting to recycle the belt. Finally, the recycled polymer material is reused in a new link with up to 100% recycled material.

Sustainability is the new goal

Through recycling and reusing the polymers in new belts and products, we are ensuring that the plastic materials do not pollute our planet, but instead are given a second life. We believe that circularity is the new standard, which is going to set the expectations and redefine the industry. Furthermore, there is no compromise on the quality of belts when compared to the standard materials.

If you’re looking for ways to improve the EcoVadis rating of your organisation and become a sustainability leader in your industry, Circle Links is the perfect solution.

Airports and logistics industries are facing growing pressure to reduce energy consumption and emissions. As concern over climate change grows, there is a greater emphasis on reducing the environmental impact of the industries contributing to greenhouse gas emissions, primarily due to the burning of fossil fuels for transportation. Sustainability is not just a trend, but rather necessity for any business that cares about long-term viability and resilience.

Keeping that in mind, we came up with the idea for a new conveyor belt that offers businesses an opportunity to reduce their carbon footprint and, at the same time, optimise their operational efficiency.

We are excited to introduce a groundbreaking conveyor belt that combines cutting-edge technology and eco-conscious design – AMMdurance rPET.

Positive impact on the planet, society, and business

There are three main benefits that AMMdurance rPET provides.

It all begins with the product’s creation, for this innovative new belt incorporates fabric produced from PET bottles. For every square metre of this new product, 14 PET bottles of 1.5 litres each are recycled.  By utilising discarded plastic bottles and transforming them into high-quality fabric, AMMdurance rPET reduces CO2 emissions by 70% compared to the production of a standard synthetic belt, making it a plastic recycling champion.

AMMdurance rPET advanced design incorporates noise-reducing properties. When implemented in airports, the belt helps to significantly lower noise levels generated during operation, improving working conditions of airport operators and allowing them to hear important announcements without difficulties.

We should also mention that AMMdurance rPET maintains the high-quality performance you’ve come to expect from Ammeraal Beltech products. You don’t have to compromise on performance while enabling sustainable practices. The AMMdurance rPET low-noise fabric reduces friction between the belt and the underlying machinery, resulting in reduced power usage and longer belt life. At the same time, special dry treatment in conjunction with EX fabrics protects the belt’s material preventing contamination and subsequent shrinkage. It all minimises maintenance and downtime, helping you to save energy and reduce operational costs.

A game-changer in the conveyor belt industry

AMMdurance rPET represents our commitment to sustainable practices and environmental stewardship. It guarantees superior, long-term endurance combined with stable, long-lasting performance. By investing in this innovative product, you can demonstrate your company’s commitment to sustainability and enhance your standing in Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) while also achieving better business results and ensuring a comfortable working environment.

One of the most significant challenges in the bakery industry is heat resistance. In this industry, it’s not enough that conveyor belts are efficient and meet hygienic standards. They also need to withstand constant heat and operate without delaminating. When temperatures are elevated, traditional belts often falter due to degradation, maintenance issues, and safety concerns.

That’s why we came up with the idea for the Duratemp belt. It’s designed to perform flawlessly at constant temperatures of 115°C and withstanding heat spikes up to 130°C. Our heat-resistant compound has been constructed to resist the browning effect better than other thermoplastic belts on the market.

Although Duratemp’s crucial feature is withstanding high temperatures, it does not mean we have forgotten about food safety. Thus, Duratemp meets standards for EC 1935/2004, EU 10/2011, and FDA requirements. Its non-stick surface reduces the risk of contamination. The belt is also compatible with metal detector systems, providing additional support in protection against foreign object pollution.

With decades of expertise in providing conveyor solutions across various industries, we have developed the Duratemp belt to address the specific needs of the bakery sector. Whether used for traditional bakery products like bread and cookies or specialised items such as pizzas and tortillas, Duratemp’s purpose-designed features ensure optimal performance and durability. The excellent longitudinal flexibility enables the belt to run over a fixed knife edge.

This remarkable heat resistance provides consistent performance and longevity supporting your most challenging applications. Would you like to learn more? Contact us!
