Global belting specialists Ammeraal Beltech will once again attend LogiMAT in Stuttgart, 19 – 21 February 2019, to introduce show visitors to their focussed products for the broad logistics industry.

Unique logistics belting solutions

Featured at the show will be the company’s STB self-tracking belt range, as well as their uni QNB Ball multi-directional belting solution, which delivers accurate alignment or diversion of packaged goods, from paper-wrapped parcels, bubble wrap and Jiffy bags to polythene bags and even tiny packages. In the stand’s ā€˜Sorter Corner’, their versatile belts for cross-belt sorters will also be demonstrated.

In fact, as Shaun Pretorius — Ammeraal Beltech’s Global Industry Segment Manager Logistics — tells potential LogiMAT visitors: ā€˜With our logistics industry-specific sorting and distribution belting solutions, we have really got you covered!’

One-Stop Belt Shop
Of course, these pivotal logistics-centred belting products are only part of the company’s respected ā€˜One-Stop Belt Shop’, which serves the needs of manufacturing and distribution across a wide variety of applications, from food processing to treadmills, and includes solutions for specific intralogistics needs such as low noise, flame-retardant and anti-static materials to minimise fire risk, and impact-, abrasion-, and temperature-resistant belting.

Shaun Pretorius and the Ammeraal Beltech team will be on hand to welcome visitors and discuss their application challenges and advise on appropriate solutions, on Stand G31 in Hall 1 at LogiMAT 2019.

AMMEGA: A New Name In Belting Technology

The two world-leading suppliers in belting technology – Ammeraal Beltech and Megadyne Group – who came together in a merger in September of 2018, have taken another important step in their integration. In December of 2018, they have announced a new corporate name for their joint operations: AMMEGA.

The integration of these two companies to effectively create a new belting champion spanning industrial power transmission belting and lightweight conveyor belting is ongoing, and continues apace. The new name of AMMEGA will serve principally to unite all of its employees under a common identity and corporate vision and mission. In view of their well-established reputations in their respective markets and their different channel-to-market strategies, which will remain unchanged, their two strong brand names – Ammeraal Beltech and Megadyne – will remain as is.

ā€œEnsuring continuity, especially in the way we serve our valued customers, is a top priorityā€ explains Marc Maisonneuve, AMMEGA’s Corporate Marketing Director.

A new website was launched to promote AMMEGA (www.ammega.com) and to explain the rationale of the merger as well as its benefits to its customers.

Under the AMMEGA umbrella, the two brands will benefit from their synergies, and will combine their knowledge, research and development activities, business systems, and, of course, their people, to enhance their level of customer service and technology.

A mega presence
ā€˜With over 5000 employees, more than 25 manufacturing facilities, and over 100 commercial and sales centers around the world,’ comments Stijn Vriends, CEO, ā€˜AMMEGA demonstrably represents a new global leader in belting, dedicated to serving its ever-broadening customer base at a time when there is dramatically-increasing demand for automation in many major industrial sectors in every geographical region. ā€˜We make your business move!’

Ammeraal Beltech now offers a basic range of linear Timing Belts for the Food Industry. These belts are suitable for use in direct contact with food products. The blue colour of the food linear timing belts range follows a general market trend in the Food Industry.

Rhapsody in Blue
The transport or handling of food products does not only have high demands as regards automation technology, but it also has to meet hygiene standards.

The belts have a hardness of 85 Shore A and are equipped with aramid cord and are produced without coiling noses in sealed constructions. The TPU surface is suitable for different coatings and for the welding of the cleats.

Dimensions:

  • T5 max. width 100 mm, cord packing 4 x 25
  • T5 max. width 100 mm, cord packing 6 x 16
  • T10 max. width 150 mm, cord packing 6 x 25
  • T10 max. width 150 mm, cord packing 9 x 16

The blue TPU Timing Belts are mainly intended for food production, processing and packaging applications.

There is no better location at which to launch a true innovation for the bakery industry than the iba exhibition in Munich, Germany; and Ammeraal Beltech, leading global suppliers of process and conveying solutions for the food industry, are doing just that.

Visitors to Stand 270, Hall A5, can see for themselves the brand-new Ropanol light blue belt, in action, on real dough sheeter equipment, and experience the highly-valuable element of visual control the belt delivers to the calibration of flour quantity and distribution.

High-quality, food-safe production – at lower cost
The Ammeraal Beltech Ropanol EM 8/2 0+00 light blue AS FG belt can make a real contribution to the dough quality and, at the same time, provide cost savings and helpful visual detection of any dough contamination. Since it enables the optimisation of standard flour dosage for dough, it also offers lower costs, and its outstanding non-stick surface delivers first-class product release properties. The blue belt colour makes efficient cleaning easier than with traditional white belts and, as with all Ammeraal Beltech Food Grade products, it complies with EC1935/2004, EU10/2011 and FDA food standards.

Ammeraal Beltech, leading worldwide developers and manufacturers of process and conveyor belting, headquartered in Alkmaar, the Netherlands, announces that it has acquired conveyor belt specialist Optiband BV.

Optiband is located in Numansdorp, in the south-west of the Netherlands and was founded by co-owners Aart Groenendijk and Harry Grimberg 27 years ago.

The goal of this acquisition is to increase Ammeraal Beltech’s penetration in the Dutch market. Like other recent acquisitions, Optiband has a strong focus on service, quality and customer intimacy, which matches perfectly the strategy of Ammeraal Beltech.

Both co-owners are very committed to integrate all of Optiband activities into the Dutch Ammeraal Beltech organization and to further grow the business.

Piet Herder, Managing Director of the Dutch operating company: ā€œPlease join us in warmly welcoming Optiband into the Global AB Team, and wish them a lot of future success to help Ammeraal Beltech strengthen its position in the Dutch market.ā€

Partners Group, the global private markets investment manager, who recently agreed to acquire Ammeraal Beltech from Advent International, has just announced that they have agreed to acquire Megadyne Group, a leading manufacturer of power transmission belts, from Astorg.

Once the acquisitions of Ammeraal and Megadyne have closed later this year, subject to anti-trust clearances and other regulatory approvals, Partners Group would in a next step plan to support a merger of the two companies, which have highly complementary product and service offerings.

The potential merger between Ammeraal and Megadyne would be to the benefit of our customers. It would create a full service industry champion across specialist industrial transmission belting and lightweight conveyor belting, further strengthening cornerstones of our business strategy: our One-Stop Belt Shop concept and customer proximity for optimised service.

Since its founding in 1950, Ammeraal Beltech’s goal has always been to offer its customers the highest levels of customer service, industry expertise and product quality. This potential merger would leverage the mutual synergies of both organisations to create higher customer value and has the support of the Management Teams of both organisations.

Rest assured that meanwhile, the global Ammeraal Beltech team will remain focused and dedicated to serving our customers.

Ammeraal Beltech announces an improvement for this young star in multi-directional ball belting…

At LogiMAT 2018, global belting specialists Ammeraal Beltech will feature an important innovation for their leading-edge multi-directional uni QNB Ball Belt, which was introduced at last year’s show, and already a huge contributor to improved performance in a variety of tasks in intralogistics, materials handling, packaging and manufacturing.

To fine-tune uni QNB Ball Belt’s efficiency in today’s ever-increasing colorimetry and video sorting applications, the belt’s integrated rotating closed ball construction – at a surface density of 1550 per square meter – is now supplied in one single default standard colour: blue. ā€˜This’, says Norman Gill, Ammeraal Beltech’s former* Logistics Industry Segment Manager, ā€˜is a major simplification and time-saver for today’s logistics businesses, eliminating the need to define different measurements for different colours of balls. Belt speed can be slowed at defined points for such key tasks today as inspection using colour definition sensors for precise location of the products on the belt, or in video sorting systems. Here, the introduction of a standard belt colour adds extra speed and accuracy to process operations. In other words, a single colour of ball across all your production lines means you need just one standard measurement basis.’

In partnership with a number of industry-specific tracking and control systems, the blue balls’ movement can also be precisely activated or deactivated to allow goods to be aligned, rotated, sorted, accumulated, or separated to order, with acceleration and deceleration of conveyor speed appropriately controlled. Auxiliary belts may be added to create additional spheres of product movement – turning them round, or transferring them from left to right, for example.

Norman Gill

ā€˜We expect to attract considerable interest in this innovation at LogiMAT 2018’, adds Norman Gill. ā€˜It’s certainly blue chip!’

Along with Norman Gill, Ammeraal Beltech specialists will be on hand at LogiMAT to demonstrate relevant features of the company’s broader product range that make up its ā€˜One-Stop belt shop’. These include solutions for specific intralogistics needs such as low-noise solutions, flame-retardant and anti-static materials to minimise fire risk, and impact-, abrasion- and temperature-resistant conveying solutions.

*Update: Norman Gill is Ammeraal Beltech’s former Industry Segment Manager for the Logistics Industry.
