The belt was designed and structured solely for the Electronics Industry for conveying products and components especially sensitive to electrostatic discharges building up during the process. Its major applications include the manufacturing and assembly of electronic elements and devices, like circuit boards, cell phones, printers, and more. 

The process of conveying electronics requires the utmost delicacy and precision. The micro-flash of an electrostatic discharge (ESD) can easily damage a small electronic component or connection. Ammeraal Beltech introduced an ESD-safe conveyor belt to assist its customers in avoiding the intensification of an electrostatic charge in a conveyor belt, which became an industry requirement. When fitted on a suitable and adequately earthed conveyor, Ropanyl ESD will not suffer from possible electrostatic discharge.

The belt is characterised by low electrical surface resistance of both the top and bottom sides, and low electrical volume resistance of the full belt thickness. The belt carcass is flexible, and the wear-resistant top cover provides longer belt life. The product is safe throughout the process, as Ropanyl ESD successfully prevents any damage from electrostatic discharge. Such a procedure is also safer for employees, who will not be suffering from harmful ESD.

How did the production line look like?

PINAR contacted us to help them optimise their production lines. We started with the analysis of the initial situation. The company relied on the OEM belt for separating the turkey meat from bones, which: 

  • required cleaning 2 times per day,
  • lifetime was 24 days, or around 200 tons of separating product.

Together, we decided to run some tests using our newly developed belt – MegaSquezee. This truly endless TPU based belt with aramid cord inside was designed for meat separation and could contribute to enhancing the production line’s efficiency and cost savings.

What were the results?

Higher effectiveness and cost savings

In the same working time as the original belt, MegaSqueeze guaranteed unsurpassed effectiveness and cost savings. The total cost of ownership was worth investing, even at the around 30% price difference. PINAR is now saving over 6000 euros annually!

Longer belt life

After 5 weeks of performance, there were no signs of wear on the belt. Only after almost 2,5 months of use did the belt minimally elongate. 

Less downtime and cleaning 

The tests have proven that over the course of the year, PINAR would have scheduled 2,5 times less downtime (to fit or replace the belt) and cleaning.

High food safety level 

Megasqueeze provided high food safety level, but did not compromise the excellent performance.

What Are Coating Materials? 

Coating materials mean materials added to the belt surface to optimise its performance. There are various types of fabrics that can be used, each of them resulting in different qualities.

How to Choose a Coating Material?

Before you choose a specific coating material, define your needs. Here are just a few questions to take into consideration:

  • What is the application of the belt?
  • Is it exposed to chemical agents, like acids?
  • What is the span of working temperatures?
  • How does the process of cleaning look like?
  • Is the surface exposed to abrasion? 
  • How do you need the surface to perform?
  • What products will be conveyed? 

What Are the Types of Coating Materials?

Synthetic belts rely on polymers as coating materials. Polymers are made of long, repeating chains of molecules and can be divided into 2 different groups:

  • thermoplastics, which can melt under the heat,
  • thermoset plastics, which retain their form and stay solid despite the heat.

The compounds that are most often used in coating materials include:

  • PVC 

This acronym stands for polyvinyl chloride, which is a thermoplastic polymer. The material is well-known for its flexibility and durability. It is used for instance in Flexam coatings, where it is responsible for their good chemical resistance, ability to withstand exposure to heat and humidity, and flame retardancy in line with ISO 340. With such qualities, Flexam is the standard choice for such industries as airports, logistics, agriculture, fruit and vegetables, marble and ceramic. 

  • 聚氨酯 

Polyurethane coatings do not release harmful toxins or chemicals. The product conveyed is fully protected, which makes this solution suitable for various food applications. Polyurethane coatings can be either thermoplastic or thermoset. The former exhibit excellent resistance to grease, oils, and chemicals.

  • Polyolefin 

Polyolefins coatings are the most versatile ones. They are characterised by exceptional resistance to chemicals, corrosion, UV, and impacts. They require less maintenance. You may find them most often in laboratory, food, and automotive sectors.

  • 聚酯

Polyester coatings are very strong and display high abrasion and cut resistance. The solution is valued for its resiliency and durability.

What Are the Functions of Coating Materials?

Coatings are used to improve the functionality of the belt surface. While the belt itself is designed to transmit large drive forces and have the lowest possible elongation, a suitable coating can upgrade its properties and bring the results you need.
